TOPOGRAPHY
this was recorded in december and january, all with just a roland sh2 monophonic analog synthesizer. in an effort to avoid bad habits of over-layering synth sounds, all the pieces were improvised with just the synthesizer, a loop pedal and delay pedal (with digital reverb added afterwards). with no computer editing and layering, a more spontaneous and organic sound is (hopefully) created, any unintended sounds becoming part of the loop and in turn taking the piece in new unplanned directions.

4 VIOLINS
inspired by the minimalist music of the 50s and 60s, this work was written and recorded mainly with the intention of creating a “performed” recording, rather than a work born in the studio like most of my music. comprising 4 movements, this piece has specified pitches and durations but a minimum of directions, allowing interpretations to vary wildly from performance to performance. also included are 2 pieces for piano from 2003.

IN MY ROOM
this is an old album that was never quite “finished” completely, a home recording project made as i was learning how everything worked.
rather than try to complete it years later or leave it buried on a hard drive somewhere, i decided to make the whole thing available to download here, complete with rough edges.
